Teaching Autistic Students using Assistive Technology SPED 512.VOB

The assistive technology I looked at is a computer program that any teacher would be able to use in their classroom, provided they have the program and a computer. This computer program, Storybook Weaver, targets autistic students that may not be able to verbally communicate as well as their classmates. This program is not just made for autistic students but it can be used by any student. It lets the student tell or summarize a story. A student would choose a scene; add animals, people or other kinds of clip art to the scene to create a wonderful story setting. With the use of pictures, they are able to express what they want to say without getting caught up with the technicalities of language. This tool is useful to any teacher that wants to try something new, instead of having the students write stories, let them create one using pictures and technology.
